Desmond Sim, Head, CBRE Research, Singapore & South East Asia:
February was a short month, interrupted by Chinese New Year. At
301, sales remain encouraging despite the absence of launches. With two key
launches in March, we expect the sales number to grow significantly.
Competitive pricing remains the key catalyst for successful transactions. With
the dearth of launches in the coming months, sales volume for new homes will be
lower than the volume for 2015. The same can be said for ECs. It is encouraging
that 129 EC units were sold even as the market ends the fourth month with no
launches. At this pace, the market should see a steady reduction of the
unsold inventory of both private homes and ECs.
